Academically have published on the history of spinal disability, pure mathematics, clinical outcomes, psychology and management of spinal cord injury. Love complex surgery and designing clinical services.  I drink slightly less than Professor Hutchison but have faster cars, a tractor and 6,500 more trees in the garden of my second home.

After finishing my basic surgical training in Yorkshire and obtaining membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh I secured a higher surgical training place in orthopaedics in the Yorkshire Deanery. During this period I became involved in the British Orthopaedic Trainees Association (BOTA) serving in a number of committee posts including that of President.
